Keith

Thank you for your kind words.

Every now and then I find some information with the photos but they are all postcards and rarely containing any description.

I don't know if you are familiar with Delcampe's website but let me explain how I use it:

The site lets you choose any desired country.
I am 99% focus on France so rarely something I post is from or about other country.

Once you chose a country you can choose the region and then the city or town.
Taht would make easy to name the places... BUT:

For every region, at the end of the list of places there is a separated link for all the 'not yet sorted' photos.
The case is that exactly that section is my current source because containing a chaotic mix of all places it gives me a more general image.

To make it more chaotic, since I have no interest in building up a bank of knowledge in my brain, I rarely take account of what area or region I am digging because all I want is to find things that inspire me for add to 'Île Du Présent'.

Think that the average 'not yet sorted' section reach near 400 pages with about 100 photos each page.
I go to one region, chose arbitrarily one name, then "not sorted yet" and there I go.
Sometimes I go through the 400 pages in a week or so but some times I abandone an area after a few pages because ... well, I must follow my nose!

To make things worse, my lone brain cell has an a bit dysfunctional memory function (blame chemotherapy, not age) and, for example, I have no idea now which area I have been digging today. :us:

But now on I will try to recall your request and add -if there is any available- information about the images.

Daniel

See this, Keith

All the information I can get is what you see in French on the image:

P2170825 (2) by Daniel Osvaldo Caso, on Flickr

P2170824 (2) by Daniel Osvaldo Caso, on Flickr

P2170823 (2) by Daniel Osvaldo Caso, on Flickr

P2170821 (2) by Daniel Osvaldo Caso, on Flickr

They are all of the same place: LE CHATELLIER-SAIN-CLAIR and the images show the iron mines of HALOUZE, somewhere in BRETAGNE.

Here Magoo and I need your help:

This is a beautiful small house

P2170898 (2) by Daniel Osvaldo Caso, on Flickr

but what is that roof?
Are those horizontal things trunks, boards or what?

P2170899 (2) by Daniel Osvaldo Caso, on Flickr

Magoo say they are trunks for securing the lower edges of each layer of straw but I don't know and can't see it clearly. :us:

Quite the collection of images. Is le chatellier a mine. I see that it says Mines de fer.

It seems like a light color, perhaps lime stone?

I don't know if I hear a diorama coming, but certainly some ladies with parasols are.

I see what you mean about that last roof top, is it beams hidden by straw?

It seems like there is a top layer on the right hand. So you are seeing what lies below in the middle and left.

Maybe if you search for some old house construction pictures from that same era?
You made me curious so I did a couple searches under the place names. this site gave some interesting back ground and seemed to contain some of your images: http://www.chantony.fr/patrimoine_et_histoire/61_forges_mines_de_fer_ornais.html

Thank you for your feed back, TGB.

Yes, they are iron mines and, again yes, they doesn't look as reddish brouwn as other iron mineral but I couldn't explain.

Thank you for the link!:2t:
Yes, it's the same mine and many of the images I've been posting. Probably from same source.

Abaout the roof: I understand what you mean but my eyes are not really convinced yet...:us:
