I am clearly no initiated in such matters so no idea what do you mean with '£@%4in'

I could try to look at the photo you mentioned but since you removed it I have no idea which one could be.
You can probably imagine I am posting to Freerails only a few photos from the many I spare for myself and, given the state of my lone brain cell's memory function, I have no idea of which photos I posted, let's stay which one has been removed.

It seems you don't like talking to me and that is making my presence in Freerails a bit uncomfortable.
You probably have your reasons but, since I don't know about, I would appreciate a bit of goodwill from the moderator.
Is there any chance or do you prefer me to go?

Please, feel free to speak.

" Am I going to get an answer from you to my question or you just skip my words? "

This is not in reply to your impatience which I have only just noted

I have many many many things to do during the considerable effort I expend Administering this Site

Most of which is to facilitate this as a place for considerate Members to Post on

One of the main considerations being that Freerails is not taken off The Net due to a$$holes ignoring simple guidelines

Demanding replies from Members who seem to think my time is theirs is not exactly welcome

There are countless Members who need help etc and do not know the guidelines already

You are as far as I know already informed and well aware of the (C) Copyright guidelines at Freerails

Post-137 regarding (C) Copyright did not refer to any of your photos if you look back and read it carefully

It was in reference to another Members Posting of a very clearly marked (C) Copyright image which is unacceptable

None of your images have been removed Post-137 only states another Members image had to be removed

If any Member wishes to be flippant over (C) Copyright related things Posted by Admin.

They will cease to be Members very quickly indeed as Posting of (C) Copyright marked images is not allowed on Freerails

There is no comment intended here about accidental Posting of (C) Copyright material

The Admin. comment in Post-137 is there to inform the Poster of a serious problem

NOT to initiate a discussion about whether Copyright is or isnt relevant

Freerails (C) Copyright guidelines are very simply stated in the IMPORTANT INFORMATION Forum

Flippancy regarding Copyright issues is a zero tolerance matter

Especially if time has already been spent on these issues with a Member previously

I devote much of and give very generously my precious time to Administering this Forum

If Members simply do not bother to read Admin. Posts carefully before reacting there is little I can do about it

The guideline is simply if it says (C) Copyright on the image it cannot be Posted on Freerails

Daniel, since I'm the moderator of this particular section, venue, whatever it should know that I don't have any problems with what you post, you bring the realm of fine art to those of us who meddle with little trains. Copyrights should be observed and if I use something from a book or magazine, I will try to post where it came from, etc. Remember that there are those in this hobby who believe that anything they take a photo of is copyrighted because that's the way they think. I am one of those old farts who believe that none of my photos, etc. are copyrighted nor should they be. With that stated, I can take the "heat" if there is such to be offered!

It doesn't matter if you win or lose, its' how you rig the game.

From my very limited knowledge of thatching:
using reeds the thatch is stacked at an angle to the roof so you see the ends of the reeds, as in TGBs photos.

With heather as such it’s laid flat on the slope of the roof.
Any sense?

The old postcards provide the most delight when there still seems a balance between mans endeavours and nature,
very subjective.

Keep at it my friend  [toast]

All the best Allen

When in doubt post a LINK to the item (picture, essay, whatever) and let somebody else take the heat.

That is what I do.

So I've found you.

I've been missing your inspirational photographs and modelling methods.
Also, it has to be said, your encouragement to get seriously started on "scenic" work
(albeit in a scale much smaller than yours).

I shall spend some time catching up, and
(in due course when I've worked out how to do it here)
I shall post on another thread some photographs of my recent efforts.

Sadly, buildings and scenery have taken a back seat for the last couple of years,
but they may be about to receive some more attention.

There's still a fair amount of constructive criticism on "Back Street",
much of it helpfully from you, on which I have yet to follow through.

Copyright on the web is tricky.
If the image had a copyright tag on it, one can always ask to use the image as a linked file with a citation.
Thus, posting a image link is also quite different from hosting the image.

If these are hosted by a server that is not FreeRails,
anyone complaining about Copyright infringement would likely do a click to open file in new window to reveal the hosting source,
or where the file resides, since shutting down the host would break all the links.

Copying off a screen grab is problematic because it removes the metadata that is embedded in the image.
Once you do that, you're really into the realm of theft, even if you do not think so.

My suggestion was to always Post a link to the host site as a citation. I try to do that most of the time.

Internet take downs require some procedure.
I had someone stealing sources from my historical research site and then using them in YouTube videos.
I tag all my images with my website address.
I expect people to either use the images in their entirety, or make a citation within the text of the place they use it.

In the case of what happened to me, the person using the images without license was contacted.
They denied wrong doing with words like: It's the internet, everyone else does it, I can too.
We managed to talk reason into said person,
but he was within about a half an hour of having his entire YouTube channel shut down.

Maybe it was my Post that broke the rules.
I was using newer sources and not paying close attention.

Did I ever mention that I like trains?
