Si.

After the Central of Peru shorty boxcars,

and 4 White Pass & Yukon Rly. car conversions...

I do need to get back to finishing that project car.

Along with a wrecking crane, business car,

and a two dome tank car.

:bg:

:2t: :2t:

You hit the nail on the head,

W.P.& Y. Rly. #11 was built as a three dome tank car,

not sure when it lost the third dome.

Got to love oddball rolling stock.  :bg:

Have a couple of Bachmann tank cars,

willing :us: to be chucked into the Lathe for some trimming,

then rebuilding to a reasonable copy of it.

More or less!

What kind of load would it usually carry?

Cannot say for sure,

most likely a combination of gasoline, diesel and fuel oil,

with no road between Skagway and Whitehorse at the time.

Not sure when third dome was removed,

but as I like oddball rolling stock,

a Bachmann conversion is ongoing at the present time.

#11was a 30 foot car, but my version will be a 24 footer.

Hopefully will have second dome installed later today,

then need walkways & ladders installed, then painting.

:glad:

" two dome tank car "

Hi    Ken

2 dome    Eh!

Well, I'm pleased I "hit the nail on the head" ...  ;)

... & not my thumb  :td: or hit my head on a nail !  :f:

(Does Ken really mean Rivet ?)

It was just a lucky guess Ken ... Eh!  :P

Seeing as the 'White Pass & Yukon Rly.' were pretty BIG on oDd 2 domers !!  L: :us: L:

Or isn't this ^^ 'officially' a 2-Dome tank car ? ?  ??? :us: ???

Unfortunately you've got me thinking Ken ... Which can be DANGEROUS !

Now I WANT A 2 DOMER for  M.M.M.M.M.& M.Co. as well ! !  :f:  :f:

And as we all know ... "You can never have enough tank cars"  :old dude:

Si.

#11 is coming together, couple of setbacks with the build.

#5 begs to be modelled, but only one Bachmann tank car left in my stash.

I have been taking a serious look at WP&Y tank cars #3 & #6  L:

No need for a tank car body, just a dome.

:moose:  Have a few extra to use up.

Hi    Ken

Only 1 left  :us:  Eh!   L:

Simple ...  :dope:

... just HACKSAW it down the middle ...

... & make a low-relief model of Tankcar No.5 !  :P

Folks with Shays & 'round-de-room' layouts ...
... never run with the 'interesting bits' facing the walls.  :old dude:

You don't need to model the 'wall side' of the tanks on No.5 ...  ???

... so there's the plans ^^ looks like yer good to go !  :thumb:  :thumb:

  2-dome tankcar number 2

Si.

I will let you have a go at it with a TRI-ANG tank car first.  :moose:

TRI-ANG tank cars are more likely to be found,

then Bachmann tank cars, at a reasonable price.  L:

If I do build yet another tank car,

it will likely be either WP&Y #3 or #6

You have not posted a photo of them.  :)

Smaller versions would fit right in,
with your eclectic mix of rolling stock on :moose: :moose: :moose:

Maybe I should not point fingers,

with the eclectic mix I've built  :)  for my railway !

Ken

Hi Ken

An "eclectic mix" is GREAT !  :thumb:

Don't want to spend all day counting RIVETS !  :y:
I always forget where I'm up to, when the door-bell rings !  :f:  :old dude:

  :dt:

Listened to Lou Reeds  'Coney Island Baby'  LP whilst making ^^ these ...

... for some oDd reason !  :us:
