The crazy rock-cut & bridge, is just AWESOME.  :thumb:

Aerial views over your rusty, wood & weed covered track, are GREAT.  :mex:

For those who may be new to Gn15,

this photo shows a Gn15 mine motor, next to a standard 12oz pop can.

Hi all,

I've come up with an entirely new concept for the Big Stone resort scene.

The likelihood a mining co. would build a resort from scratch, is quite low.
However, converting a closed down mine into a resort, seems more likely.
I intend to basically start over, with this new concept.

This is an idea that makes more sense to me.
It would involve remaking all new buildings,
that look like old mine buildings converted into a resort.

Some track rebuilding, to create a reversing loop, will be done.
I'm ok with the work, as long as a more believable scene is achieved.
Here you see the new track alignment at the Big Stone Lodge.

Notice, the old building foundation is still in place.
Half of this will be removed to make way for the new return loop.
A new building will be designed to fit the new situation.

    Larry

When the mine suddenly opened into a huge, never ending cavern,
a natural, tremendous tourist attraction potential was evident.

The mine owners were quick to realize this.

    Hi Dave

    My point exactly,
the abandoned Appetite mine was not producing any income.

So, the mine owners decide to convert it,
into a very specialized clothing optional resort.

An existing cave was developed so tours could be offered.
Also, underground mine tours will be offered.

I already have the entrance to the cave modeled.
Not sure if any cave interiors will be modeled.

There is a potential of space under the layout,
we'll see if that pans out.

I do have space under the layout,
to model a bit of underground mining scenery.

My new concept for the Big Stone Mountain Lodge area,
    is still in flux.

I've removed about half of the old building foundation,
and installed the foam roadbed support blocks.

This shot shows the foam core roadbed being glued in place.

    Roadbed ready for commercial track,
or wood ties and hand spiked rail.

I'll be hand spiking my rails.
