Hi there

I found this kit awhile ago for a good price.

Always thought it was interesting so decided
to show how I built it and what I have done with it.

So here is the kit I got and the various bits and pieces.

So I started by cleaning window and door castings
and getting them primed.

And in the course of this
discovered I am short one of the freight doors...
Hmmmm.

Also included are the awning support brackets in this initial priming.

Here's the sides and back pieces
primed and ready for the next step.

I went through and adjusted window openings
and weighted them all to keep them flat.

I don't see many of these kits being built.
(I know Dorothy's House and the Roundhouse have builds out there)

I would be curious to see what folks think about Scale Structures Ltd. kits.
I have collected a few to build and this is the first one I have tackled.

This kit is from the original issue
I think before Jaks bought them and Walthers.

But the box is open and several things are missing
(Campbells shingles and some stripwood, plus that other door)
but I think this will be interesting.

Not too clear on instructions and following their sequence
but we shall see.

Ok here is the store window display area following the lovely plans...
Of course the precut wood doesn't match, oh well.

This is more like a scratchbuild from plans,
except trying hard to utilize provided siding wood etc...

I think all the provided wood is wrong but... I can deal.

So next I marked out the 2nd floor levels,
to add supports for floor.

I also back wall edges sanded to approx 45 degrees,
to prep for gluing together.

So primed windows and front pieces,
added some extra wood, and began to
assemble bay window and front door area.

So I decided to keep white as the store body color,
and use a grey for rim, and a green front door.

Lots of alcohol/ink wash and messy paint,
to give it that lived in effect (ha).

So did all the doors and windows to get to adding 'glass'.

You can see I have assembled alcove, bay window area,
having to re-cut inner ceiling piece cut at the wrong angle,
and trying to duplicate the area, as laid out in the plans.

Then I added floor supports for 2nd floor, with provided 6x6.

You can see added wall on right side for the door alcove,
which of course was short, so I added a piece
to glue door area to compensate.

This also shows beveled back wall edges at 45 degrees,
for gluing together without trim, as per instructions.
