Now there's a scenic feature you don't see on every layout

https://www.railpictures.net/photo/769295/

Sandersville Railroad SW1500's 1400 and 1500,

drags the loaded Deepstep Turn across the "Railroad Roundabout",

in Sandersville, on the way to the NS interchange in Tennille.

These are becoming more common in Australia, probably a good idea,

but on a layout, it just wouldn't look right.
Just think of the footprint it would take up on the layout.

:td:

.....Peter.

Came across a similar setup just South of Greymouth in New Zealand on one trip,

only three roads, one of which approached on a single lane rail and road bridge from Greymouth.

If the model were for Gn15,

the roundabout model would be bigger than a good percentage of Gn15 layouts!

Here's one in my vicinity,

doesn't take up that much space.

Name of Gambacher street there on the north side,

brings to mind the Grumbacher art supply company.

Hmmm...

Each and any vehicle coming from the right,
has to stop when a train is approaching...

No matter which direction it wants to go.
