Hello everybody
My name is Murray McPhie, I live in Bendigo, in Victoria, Australia.
You might imagine it is a city in the middle of a big, hot, dry place. You would be correct.
At least at this time of year, which is the southern summer.
We recently had a week or two of temperatures in the 40 to 45 degree celcius range.
That's about 105 to 115 Fahrenheit. But that's only for a couple of weeks every year.
We are only 100 miles from the sea, and most of the time the climate is terrific.
My wife and I are from New Zealand, we moved to Oz about 13 years ago.
My wife bought me an N scale train set for Christmas many years ago.
I was very excited and built a small layout.
Then I built some bigger layouts, started importing and selling N scale stuff, and really got into it.
Finally I sold all the N scale trains, and had HO trains off and on, but everyone had them.
Then, I discovered 0N30!!
I bought a Bachmann 2-4-4 outside frame Forney and a couple of passenger cars on ebay.
I was hooked!
I built some scratch built buildings, bought a big Bachmann 4-6-0 loco and a few bits of rolling stock.
Then I started building a layout which is able to be folded up when not in use.
I am really not happy with running the trains in such a small space,
so discussions have commenced with the household management about constructing an elevated line in the garden!
She, somewhat surprisingly, seems amenable to the suggestion!
When I found Freerails, I seized upon it as a source of wisdom and a vent for sharing what I am trying to do.
If you can see where I am coming from.

Discovering On30 has a strange effect on normal sensible people we find
On30 is great! (while being hog-tied and force-fed a whole week of neglected meds)

Howdy Murray and welcome to the best site I know of!
Yep, all you need to do is see a Forney and it's all over for much else.
Don't be shy and post some more.
We love words and photos.

I have a million pictures in my phone, but for some reason it wont let me load them to an email. My wife explained why. I still don't understand it.
I manage a business which turns over in excess of $7.5 million a year. I use multiple computer systems and create all sorts of exotic reports.
However I have no idea if we have $10 in the bank at home or whether the gas bill has been paid. It will have been, my wife, the Household Manager, will have paid it.
Apparently I need an i tunes account or something to download pictures from my phone. Pity, I was in Singapore last year, drinking the company's beer. Took some fantastic pictures, and would have shared some, just to make you jealous!
So, I will use the digital camera and take some pictures of my railroad empire. Imagine big radius curves, realistic scenery, long straight sections and an impressive roster of rolling stock.
Well, it is nothing like that at all.
