Quite nice roster of motive power. That layout plan with boats on both ends looks good too.

Old Athearn units are getting harder to find at train shows.
I've used some of the Bachmann DCC/DC engines but they have not held up well.
The Athearn engines are sturdy and reliable, as Forrest said.
