What's happened here justifies my concern.
The only replies to my post have been arguments about administration control and interference.
It might have been more productive if admin had taken a minute to answer my question,
in addition to discussing their need for control.
Now the thread's subject is lost.

Exactly the point I was making too Tom.

And I see that my most recent post has been eradicated.

Such is life!

You said in your "most recent post" Edit that it was a double post

Which it was and at exactly the same time as "That's reassuring then"

I assumed you wanted it "eradicated" as you call it

You said it was a "double post"

The only "interference" here as far as I can see

Is the following misguided comment by Slateworks who clearly jumped to the wrong conclusion

Just to say yet again nothing has been moved from the roundhouse thread

" I can see why this post has been moved but it breaks the continuity of the Roundhouse thread in so doing.
Readers who follow just the Roundhouse thread could miss the outcome now.
Copying it across, leaving the original where it was, would have been better "

Admin. not only spend the lions share of their personal spare time maintaining Freerails

They also spend a significant amount of money in doing so as well

" It might have been more productive if admin had taken a minute to answer my question
in addition to discussing their need for control "

This kind of comment made above is simply not welcome here

Admin. does not answer questions about modeling

They administer Freerails

There is no need for "control" as you put it but a need for presentation and organisation

Freerails would not currently exist without Admins. continuing major efforts

Something which some Members seem to overlook

" Now the thread's subject is lost "

It does look to me very much like that is what you both are achieving here

Whos posts are contributing to loosing the subject in hand ?

Admins. one and only comment ever in this thread would have been

" I merged the last post onto your existing glass and window topic "

But that simple line and Admin. doing their thankless work was not the end of it

Think about it

You want to spend all your free time running Freerails and pay for it as well ?

Maybe you both can do a better job

And I too appreciate the efforts put into maintaining this and any other forum to which I belong.
I also accept that the moderators have the right to make changes but consultation is preferable to controversy.

And as far as my eradicated post is concerned, whilst it started as a duplicate,
it was edited to be in effect a compliment to the administrative process.

" the moderators have the right to make changes but consultation is preferable to controversy "

The only controversy I see is that Administration is being criticized for doing their job

Admin. has neither the time nor inclination to "consult" on presenting tiny threads well

Merging a 5 post thread on glass to a likely 5 post thread on glue doesnt need "consultation"

It is common practice to consolidate appropriate threads on any well run internet forum

Perhaps it doesnt make sense to some having glass and what glue to use in 1 thread

But to anyone who is not seeking to make mountains out of mole hills it is likely fine

" And as far as my eradicated post is concerned, whilst it started as a duplicate,

Nice to hear now correctly that the "eradicated post" was a double post as you said before

One line of text with typos didnt look like "a compliment to the administrative process" to me

If you dont want a double post "eradicated" dont Edit it and state that it is a "double post"

Its very misleading to other members suggesting a post has been "eradicated" for no reason

OK Eddie, you're the moderator, have it your way. Life's too short and I'm done.

" OK Eddie, you're the moderator, have it your way "

Its not a case of "have it your way"

I am not a moderator either I am the Administrator

It is not customary for forum members to harass Admins. running of the site

Especially not regarding the total and utter triviality of merging a few posts

This essentially trivial exchange during today I sadly have had to answer though

It would be far easier not to waste my time and simply remove the comments

But that is not how things are done here as I have shown in explaining

If you dont like the huge continuous effort Admin. puts into Freerails dont look at it

I am not here to discuss minute and trivial details with members or be insulted by them

If you think you have a pertinent comment show some common sense and send a PM
