My name is Mark Shearin.
I am located in Winston-Salem, NC USA.
I have been a modeler since a very young age.
I currently have a 7.5'' gauge live steam railroad at home with 3200' of track down.
I have been collecting 1:20.3 narrow gauge locomotives and rolling stock for several years and have built a few structures.
I am about to begin building my dead rail layout.
I am seeking advice on a lower budget r/c system.
Although, lower budget may not be the correct term to use.
I am after a system where one or two loco on a larger loop and also do some switching operations with a few other locomotives.
I see several "store bought" systems that can do what I would like to a accomplish. They seem awful proud of them.
Batteries aren't the cheapest thing either.
So, I thought I would spend several weeks reading through your old forums before I ask ANY redundant questions.
This is a great place to learn about RC systems.
The great part about large scale is that you have many systems to choose from and battery space.
Just be sure to test each engine for voltage and amp draw before installing remote control.
Even my little porter draws over an amp when stalling.
