Is it me or is there something about posting messages. It seems like the sentence spacing jumps around and it's hard to place pictures and words. When clicking Preview the sentence structure changes scrambling the pictures and wording.
I've tried different browsers both in Windows 7 Professional and Windows 10 with the same results. Makes it frustrating posting anything on Freerails.
So, is it me or is it the forum software?
Bernd

So when I wrote the post I had spaces between the first and second sentence and also between the second sentence and my name. After posting I see there are no spaces between the sentences. I believe it has to be a software problem and not a computer problem at my end.

Bernd (pressed "Enter twice to see where the name ends up. Looks like four spaces.)

Hi Bernd.

All is working just fine here.

Never heard of any 'picture scrambling', except from you.

If you are Posting using the 'Quick Reply' Window ...

... try hitting RETURN, TWICE, to get a space between lines.

It is likely a computer problem ...

... as the Freerails software, as usual, seems fine.

This tape will self destruct in 5 seconds . . .

Let's see what it looks like when I quote you.

Something isn't working right. No matter what I do the software does weird stuff. This doesn't happen on the other sites I'm on.

Bernd

P.S. the quick reply seems to work OK.
P.S.S. Apparently "quote" doesn't work for me.

Hi Si  and all (1 x Enter)Bernd is not alone. It has been doing it to me using Chrome for months.

I have to use (2x Enter) to get a line separation. (3 by Enter)

goes to here
The only way I can add a link it to manually type in the code [ url] [ /url] (without the spaces). For photos I have to use the code [ img] [ /img]
This ought to look real funny when it appears as a message.

If you look at most of my recent messages you will see that they have been edited by me to get the line spacing right after being posted.

I think there are still some lingering effects of the crash.

Strange.

I seem to be able to Post both words & photos just fine.

No huge bulks of text without breaks & paragraphing.

I can also use the Members Gallery absolutely fine without any problems either.

No problem adding Links & custom labeling them in Posts also.

Mysterious Moose Mountain

On my Mac, P.C. and Android phone, everything appears to be all systems go.

Which logically leads me to believe ...

... if everything works fine here on 3 totally different platforms ...

... what are you guys doing that is different ?

:)

Si.

Herb suffered a Members Gallery problem a couple of weeks back.

The immediate conclusion of most people would always seem to be ...

... Oh it can't be me, the Forum software doesn't work properly.

Herb reported back to me the other day ...

... that MAGICALLY after his browser did some further Auto-Updates ...

... BINGO ! he sees the Members Gallery again.

Doesn't look like that's anything to do with the Forum software whatsoever.

All I did in the previous post is click on the "QUOTE" button and entered "Testing the "Quote" button and my name. Both clicked "enter" twice each time. The results show an obvious problem with the forum software. Sorry to be a pain in the butt, but it's frustrating trying to post on this site.

Bernd

P.S. Posted with the "Quick Reply" box.

" The results show an obvious problem with the forum software."

Hi Bernd

I'm sorry, but your conclusion that the Forum software is at fault, makes no sense.

You can't say there is 'an obvious problem' ...

... without knowing WHAT that alleged problem IS.

You Quoted in Post-4 ... and all the correct formatting was present.

You Quoted in Post-8 ... and clearly the correct formatting is not there.

Nothing has changed here at this end.

So what have YOU done differently, in the mean time ?

Or what has your BROWSER done differently, in the mean time ?

Possibly entirely randomly as well.

I can only guess at this, but it seems that under certain circumstances ...

... YOUR browser/computer is messing with how stuff is displayed.

I had some kind of weird problem a couple of years ago, with something browser/computer related.

I obviously have no idea whether this would work for you ...

... but after DELETING and then reinstalling my browser software ...

... the problem was GONE.

It seems that Herbs issue was to do with a similar situation ...

... after his browser had later auto-updated ( ie. reloaded ) his problem was mysteriously GONE.

Again NOTHING to do with the Freerails Forum software.

It seems to me that there is something 'random' affecting things for you.

I have to say, I have NEVER seen a 'Quote' come up before ...

... without a white-box around it.

On BOTH of your 'Quotes' there is NO white-box.

Strange.

Seems like it is another formatting problem, probably originating from your browser/computer ...

... since to my knowledge, I don't believe I've seen that elsewhere ever.

Are you running decent quality & up to date 'Anti-Virus Software' on your devices ?

It can be the case that such intentionally annoying things, such as low-level viruses & mallware etc. ...

... can and DO often simply mess with things, such as formatting & mouse operation etc.

They can latch onto & change somethings, like preferences & such stuff in browsers.

Such a virus or mallware etc. may not still be present & detectable either ...

... they can do their dirtywork & just vanish without a trace.

Just so as to avert any MASS PANIC before any other rumours get started.

IT IS ABSOLUTELY NOT POSSIBLE TO EVER GET A VIRUS OR MALLWARE FROM FREERAILS !!

But ...

... it is VERY possible to get such things from zillions of other online sources.
