I have a silhouete cameo
and there is a new one , silhouete curio.
I believe this one can cut thicker materials

the software is free to download, so you can experiment with it before you want to buy one

on you tube you can also a lot of info regarding cutters

I agree with you
I got the creeky Roofing Co when they offered it for free
and used a craft edger #ke-39 pair of scissors I borrowed from my wife to cut the edge

These shingles look very nice indeed.  This kind of work seems ideal for these paper cutting machines.
