Hi John,
another quick dig reveals it as New York Ontario & Western #3 - not MKT as first thought and from east coast US.
If you are seriously interested the following link might be of use for a good sized photo of it.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-York-Ontario-Western-RR-Steam-Inspection-Car-3-8x10-photo-/381514981781
I did get a hit on another site that required a Pininterest log-in to view it, and I don't want to go there.
There is a NYO&W historical site that might be able to help have a dig around at http://www.nyow.org/
It may be worthwhile contacting them direct to see what they have and maybe who built it?

Those brasshats annoyed by the beef delivered into their laps ( reason for withdrawal of that steamy sofa ) obviously caused the incident themselves. As one notes, the throttle and valve gear control levers are right in front - the chap in the back only cared for the fire. A true 'chauffeur', Cugnot-style.

Thanks guys. Really helpful
I've built a small model based on this, although I gave it a cab and it is narrow gauge. I'll post a photo.

I've had that pic filed away on my computer for a while, it's on my long-term list of "someday, maybe" projects. Should be pretty easy to do it in 1/24th scale.
