Here is my first attempt at building trestle bents with Blackbear kit.
After building a test bent I have cut some wood and stained it. I learned an easy trick to do all the wood staining at the same time. I made a stain by mixing burnt umber, grey and black diluted with water. Couldn't tell you the exact mix but the color looks great to me. Once it was ready I took all the wood and placed it in a large ziplock bag. I then poured all the "stain" mix in the bag. Shook it around to make sure every piece was covered completely. After I used a stariner from 99 cent store to catch the pieces as I poured it out into a clean bucket. After wiping the wood off I saved the remaining paint mix so I will have it when I am ready to stain my ties on the trestle.
Here is my first bent being built with the newly stained wood.
