This is a little book I often turn to for modeling ideas.  This book is a collection of the cartoons by Carl Fallberg.  What makes this book so useful is the atmosphere created in the drawings.  The author seems to have based the mythical Fiddletown  & Copperopolis Railway on the Rio Grande Southern - at some of the scenes seem inspired by the RGS.  Carl Fallberg's cartoons just have so much character to them - the caricature-like people populating the drawings are all figures I would love to try recreating in HO.  The locomotives and rolling stock, while all caricaturized, just 'look right".  The structures remind me of large scale models of weather-beaten, highly weathered structures - again, many of the buildings in the book look like something I should model someday.

If nothing else, this book is just "fun", an worth a look.

From what I've read, he was definitely a big fan of Colorado narrow gauge.
