Published back in 1964, this book is about the Carson & Colorado RR which later became the Southern Pacific narrow gauge.

While it won't compare to later, more exhaustive works, it still holds it's own and is one of my favorites from when I was a teen narrow gauger. Mr. Turner has the story and many great old photos of C&C locos and cars and the later incarnation after the SP bought the line. And half of the book is devoted to the modeler with photos of neat HOn3 locos, which had to be scratch built or modified from HO locos of the time, and some fine plans for passenger and freight cars and even a structure or two.  I found several copies on ABE (link) which are quite reasonable in price and everybody who loves non-Colorado narrow gauge can afford this one.

Yep, that's a good one. I think that was the first prototype RR book I ever bought.
