Here are the other photos of that tow truck that I promised above. I wonder if I could use the lost foam method of molding that body shape with fiberglass? I've made some real simple shapes like that before (airplane cowls) but that looks pretty challenging. It sure as heck would be a cool railtruck. If I did it, it would have to be large scale. Humm....

That truck is like Aunt Millie's wart...it kinda grows on you! I think you SHOULD build one. I have a 1:24 33(?) Chevy truck radiator grill which looks pretty much like that one. Let me know if you need it.

I can't tell if those are louvers on either side of the grill, or if they are a painted design.

Ray they were chrome strips, I can't remember for the life of me the make, but I'm sure it was English in origin, I remember delivery vans with fronts like that when I was a kid in Sydney

As I look at the pictures those look like stripes either side of the grill. Also, the 38 Dodge trucks grill looks about like that but more curved side to side. I think the thing might have been made by cutting the original down the center and flattening out the two halves.

I'm going to start experimenting at making the basic shape. I'm imagining that it will take me several iterations before I get something acceptable.

In the last pix, it looks like they stick out from the body, where the body rounds out of view on the drivers (US) side..ergo chrome strips.

Pardon me if I don't march with the group, but that thing is warthog ugly!

I see where you see them sticking out now on the left side in that last grainy photo.

As for appearance, I like it because it's so different. I have a friend that models the ugliest planes he can find. I don't find this truck ugly. However, I can see where some people might.

How about the Labatts Streamliners?
