Great stuff! I can see that someone might want to devote their entire "modeling life" building replicas of these wonders. Proves that there's a prototype for ANYTHING.

I think someone needs to model one of these as a railtruck.

Well here is one of them almost. The basis is a Bachmann Truck with a Backwoods miniature cab and crane. Rigging still required as too a good set of headlights. It is now fitted with a DCC Decoder but does not run that well due to the poor plastic gears in the Differential. Might have to look at it one day.
The Backwoods kit was a dream to build. Window glass has been fitted since this shot was taken way back.

Regards
Rod.

The proprietor, Luton White, must have been quite an entrepreneur as well as a mechanical marvel. He built his own tow truck on a Dodge chassis to enable him to haul vehicles back to his workshop. Here are its classic art deco lines, as photographed around 1938.

I just wish there was a couple more pictures of it from other angles. If you like this one, Google the term "Labatts streamliner". It's pretty cool too.
<edit> OK I found a couple more of the Barnes Auto tow truck but they are here on my IPad and I can't upload photos to this website from there. I'll get them uploaded some other time.Last edited on Sun Apr 20th, 2014 02:41 pm by mwiz64
