Hi all

Not posted for a while so thought I better upload some pictures of were I am

To start with I got feed up using the temporary lighting and spot light so I brought 2x T8 5ft tubes permanently fitted with a skirting to hide them. sorry forgot to take a picture of this.

Below is a picture of the full layout under the new lighting.

I have now worked out exactly what I want to do with the right hand side of the layout, This is going to be a steep hill side with a tunnel from the main line that curves to the right into a fiddle yard or staging area as you guys call it.

Also here is where the coal mine will now be and will go up into the hill side a bit like Joeys (hope you don't mind Joey I'm not trying to copy yours but use it as inspiration). To many layouts in the UK that have multiple levels with train feeding trains, I want my layout to be simple and on the level. so the idea of conveyors feeding the shoot like Joeys would look good for my layout.

Below are some pictures of the new section of base board with the hill side and coal mine.

This is were the town was going to be but is now the coal mine, if you could imaging the porter driving down the siding/branch up to the end of the track to the coal shoot. with the mine and building going up the hill side.

This base board was originally the mine section that stuck out in the middle, I have now ditched this idea as you know and cut the base board in half and used it at either ends of the layout. This section was extended for the fiddle yard. The hill side it was made out of layers of insulating foam bard, that was then simply carved to shape.

Just some extra pictures of the area.

Cheers Dan

Hi All

Quick up date.

I've made a few changes to the scenery I have already done due to some advice and I think what I was doing looked ok but as I done more it started to look to much so I've thinned it out and added finer and less dense shrubs or greenery.

Simple rocks made using plaster and tin foil (once dry then removed).

Comments and tips much appreciated.

Cheers
Dan

Here's a few more

This is now going the be the saw mill area!

Why

Because I've been up to this recently.

Rayley Creek Coal Mine.

The new extension Piece.

Hope you like. It might not be right but its just to represent a coal tippler and just made it up.

It's really coming together nicely. You have packed a while lot of railroad in there. Following along and learning a lot, thanks for the updates.

Hay Heath

Thanks. Yeah limited on space and I like logging, Mining, Industry and coaching stock so I've gotta cram it all in. Ha

Bin working on a pre building to the tippler which I've made out of bits and pieces and I'm not sure if the feeder could work like this in real life, the reason for it is I don't want the hill side getting to high. The structure is in the garage and its a bit to early to go up there and take a picture. When I can I will take one and post it, remember I'm only trying to capture an image not prototype but if the feeder looks completely un-prototypical I will change it.

Cheers Dan

Hi Dan,

I realy like te new scenery.

The tippler / bin. How do you feed it? It is much higher than the hill where the mine is so there has to be a bigger structure next to it to feed the tippler with ore or coal.
Beside of that it looks good enough to me.

Dan,
The tippler looks fine.   You could put a a backdrop behind it (left side of extension, above the fascia) and add a flat building on that to simulate a higher feed building.   It just looks wrong sitting out there all alone.   A higher flat would give the indication of something feeding it.
