More important than the nail holes is the whole effect. One extra-super-detailed item will automatically downgrade the rest IMHO. But I have been wrong before (just ask my wife). Jose.

Jose, you are right. Building superdetailed stuff is great and I admire such work but rarely do these artists build operating railroads. One of the old Model Railroader authors held to the "good enough" principle and his layout was/is one of the best ever.

If you go to the next section below this one..."scratch building and kit bashing".
I have brought forward 2 old builds of mine to show my technique for how I think nail head impressions should look on a model building.
builds are Q C TWEEDLE and WALKER EVANS CHURCH

Hi Johnny.
Please don't thank me too much, Lost Creek Rod made the model and added the details, and opened up his layout for visitors. I had the camera set for "mug mode" (full automatic)- I only moved the zoom in and out.

Hello Si.
Yes I have been very busy lately.
I am moving and am also changing scales.
Going from HO to G scale with a garden railroad.
Started small but am already planning to expand.
Hope all is well with you and all other forum members.
Johnny
