As I've been researching my prototype WWI trench railways, I'm finding that there seems to be a fair amount of locomotive "kits" available in 7mm scale that can be made to run on HO gauge track. Or at least I'm seeing several models like that on the web. One of the kit makers I'd like to get in contact with is called Wrightlines. They make or at least made the Baldwin 4-6-0T that the USA used in France. I love that little engine. If I could get my hands on one I would be forever grateful. Apparently, this gentleman now only sells his kits at shows. I'm not in a position to travel to Europe to visit a vendor in the hopes of buying a kit... or several kits.

Anyway, if you know this gentleman or how to contact him it would be a big help if you could pass that info along.

I'm not sure of the contact details - but a good place to start would probably be the 7mm Narrow Gauge Association.

I'm not a member - but, in case it's of any interest, I've noticed that their website currently includes a link to a sample issue of their magazine "Narrow Lines".

I suspect that some people here might find one article of interest in the sample issue currently on their website - it's about chopper couplers.

Huw.

Well, I just joined the 7mm Narrow Gauge Association. I think My intentions at this point are going to be to build 1:35n2 and in 7mm scale. I foresee myself with two small layouts, one set in the Western US (1:35) scale and one set in France during WWI (7mm or 1:43). I wish 1:35 scale were more popular with the WWI railway modelers because I'd prefer that but getting even slightly accurate locos of WWI in 1:35 is going to be too difficult for me at this stage of the game. Since my layouts will just be small shelf types and dioramas this will be a workable compromise.

There is one of the Baldwin 4-6-0T for sale on the NGRM online forum

http://ngrm-online.com/forums/index.php?/topic/7315-wrightlines-wwi-war-department-baldwin-4-6-0-loco-kit-w221/

You will need to register to see it sadly.

If that doesn't work out I have an incomplete one.

Tom
