Hello every one. I need to know where I can buy some decomposed granit for ground cover on my layout. The dirt here in Indiana has way to much clay in it. It turns red when dryed in the oven.
Plus any info on other types of dirt that do well to look like the canyons of Colorado.
Howdy Nate, I don't know about where you live, but here in Dallas, the Home Depot has decomposed granite in sacks for paving foot paths, etc. You might look in your yellow pages for soil & rock dealers. They may know about this. And, maybe it's time for a nice vacation to Colorado...be sure to bring some buckets and a shovel.

Woody's right!! try Home Depot and look in the garden section for small Peavy Rock or see if they have Rainbow Rock wich is taken from the Mounatains & Creeks here in Colorado. Also you might want to try a bucket sand from one of your local baseball fields,I've used this stuff for years !!! and it works great for ground cover on hills, mountains and blasts for track.
So this should save you a trip to Colorado !! Unless Woody wants to pay for it.
A trip to Colorado in the summer is worth the money. Especially to escape the Texas heat. Spent 2 weeks there last July. It never got above 84, while at home near Dallas it didn't get below 80 during the same time.
Woodie's right about Home Depot. I've bought several bags. Our Lowe's doesn't carry it.

I have checked with home depot here in Indiana and they don't have and can't order it eather. I have been trying to get to Colorado for years, not sure when that is going to happen but I still need ground cover.
Thanks for the tips I will look in to the others

What color and size of the ground rock are you looking for. If possible post a sample pic. I am close enough to the hills and have several outlets for great ground cover. I may be able to help you out and the cost (FREE) makes things so much better. As an example, one of my friends needed a lot of what appeared to be iron ore for his ore boat and Walthers ore dock. I was able to come up with a dead on match and by 5 gallon bucket full. If you can let me know,it would be great.
