Todd asked me to start a thread about my N Scale empire it is 3.55M x 2M (140"x78").

I posted the track plan in the General Forum under "Most Realistic".

http://www.freerails.com/view_topic.php?id=89&forum_id=3&page=1

I had the benchwork up, 2x2 legs, 1x3 framing, supported every 12" and 2" of blue foam. The track, mostly Atlas Code 80, is laid on cork. LePage's White Glue holds it down. I had everything down and wired, then I purchased 14 Tortoise switches and find I have to pull up track to mount the Tortoises in the foam. There are 28 turnouts on the layout, 14 will be operated with the Toroise Switches and the other 14 will be controlled with Caboose Industries ground throws.

Todd said it was about time I started to scenic the layout. Well, buddy, I am ahead of you. I have started a 36" x 7" diorama of Downtown Orangeville.

Directly infront of the stores will be a wooden sidewalk, then a dirt road. Along the fron of the diorama will be a wooden fence (I am using Rusty Stumps wooden fencing, great stuff) Between the fence and the road will be a green belt. At the right end of the diorama, infront of the town hall will be located the team track, hence no fencing there.

That is it for now, the rest can be seen on my website.

Thanks Damien, it will be lots of work, I hope I get time to work on it. I am only 52 and still working hard at my own business, Muskoka Computes. CD and DVD production. Just keeping up to the orders for my various DVDs is time consuming. :D

Yes sir!!! Thats What I'm Talking about!!! :)

An entire town in 7" x 3 feet :thumb:

Ive got several of those backdrops like you used there. Its about all thats left of my N stuff..........In fact I think I have 7 panels including the one your showing there.

I like the fact you have  the town built on an incline. adds much to a scene. It does take a little longer to do a scene but the end resulta are well worth the extra effort :)

Great job Will,  progress reports once in a while would be good, i'd love to see your efforts unfold.....:apl:

Thanks Todd, I will keep you posted.

Hopefully today I can find some time to work on it. I need to put roofs and back walls on the two buildings on the incline and then to the boardwalk. I will be working on the Tortoise Switch preparations though.

As to the town on an incline, I got the idea when I purchased the Rusty Stumps N Scale stair pack. Wooden laser cut stair stringers and steps.

Also the original track plan:

Thanks Todd and Jason

The trackplan has been "Tweaked" since then. I just have not redone the illustration.  :X

BTW, I finished editing the "Historical Ride" around the layout, it is a 7 page PDF. You can DL it from my site.

Jason, I am getting to it as fast :slow:  as I can  :bg:
