This is a one day affair so traveling 1500 miles for a few hours may not be what you want to do. If you and Don both came down, there might be 2 Sn42'ers at the meet. However, there will be quite a few Sn3 guys there..possibly a Sn2 modeler also. While I am not on an official layout tour, if anyone there wants to drop by, they are welcome.

Thanks, it's too bad that it's not in kentucky or something...have relatives there, could go visit them and stay over night there, too bad...I'll have to swing by your place for a layout tour sooner or later...

Sn42 rolling stock is essentially the same size as HO - not exactly but close enuff for my old eyes.

Ah the Sn42. I'm leaning towards Sm (S meter gauge) but may just use the HO as is and go 42" as opposed to 39.3" for some modern narrow gauge modeling. A friend of mine in Brazil has sent me some great shots of meter gauge currently running there. The 42" gauge would work for the Newfoundland railroad but to me their diesels weren't near as interesting as the stuff Brazil runs on meter gauge.

Many of the Newfie locos ended up in South America.

Here's some links to photos of the xCN Locomotives still in service in South America 18 years after abandonment.

OOPS!  It appears the first 3 links in my last msg no longer work.
Try this one:

Scroll to bottom of website for a pic and link to the South American operation.

I like these two, with the wheels / drive system more or less covered. Since the drive system doesn't show very much a model would be easy to power for HOn30 using one of the many power trucks sold for Japanese N scale trains.

I may build a card stock mockup over the week-end and see how it turns out.

Here is an Sn42 mockup I did using an AF GP7 shell, some misc s-scale parts and an Athearn SD7 chassis.

Wow Don, that's going to be excellent! Please keep us posted, there is a lot of interest in modern narrow gauge these days. Great work..
