I am wanting to get back to building a small layout....something that can set on a table top and store away easy.....but I am having a problem in deciding
Once upon a time ....I build/started these...

Small Adv Layout from N-turorial yahoo group (one of Terbor's favorites) does not exist anymore. another 2x4 layout is on the list maybe this plan or another.

Dwyane-
Round and round gets boring quick. If you want continuous running for breaking in locos etc. tack a ready laid loop down on a piece of ply, or foam.
If you want something that will hold you interest and not get stale quickly go with switching, or point to point

Herb-I agree with you. Of course, I am biased to "out & back" layouts these days. This is a great little design for a layout and I really like the crossover. I say "build it!" Woodie

Will the transfer table connect to the siding leading to the grain silo? I think i'd make it a 2nd entrance, it's nice to have a 2nd runaround especially on a switching layout like this.

Looks like a neat layout, lots to do. Be bold with some elevation change!

Both of those are well done. interesting little switching layouts- I'm impressed with the simple card order system on the "family hogg" Might just try that on my layout.

Glenn,
Thanks for the links...
I have seen the August Yard before and have been studying it and laying it out in Xtrkcad.
Never seen the guitar one before interesting.
I mocking up the 1x5 above with foam core to see it full size. The foam core turn out so well. I am moving forward with it for now. Working on how to do the transfer table.
If you interested in how well foam core works checkout this months Brooklyn 3AM on Carl Carendt site http://carendt.us/index.html.
I am also still looking and testing plans for a 2x4 also.
