Hi all, Given that this thread was originally about HO nails in walls, for comparison purposes, may I offer 2 photos I got of one of the O scale structures on Rod's Lost Creek layout, when I visited his layout as part of the Layout Tours at the Australian Narrow Gauge Convention at Easter this year First the view was taken from the aisle of one of his mine structures that was probably about 3' away from where I was standing (Checking the digital data panel for this photo told me that this photo was equivalent to using a 25mm lens on a 35mm film camera - It probably used very little if any of the zoom capability of my camera) and a much tighter zoom looking at the office on the landing above the loading gates (This photo was equivalent to using a 200mm lens on a 35mm camera. My camera was probably showing about 8X zoom in the view panel when I took the photo - any much higher zoom ratios than that and I get blurry hand-held photos) I hope that this helps compare approaches on O scale structures.
