A little understanding about basic mill type construction, and a picture of what you want to build, some strip wood (if you don't have a way to cut your own) and glue,
(Titebond II recommend) and some determination is all you need.

No reason to spend ridiculous amounts of money--UNLESS you want to pay someone else to build one for you- but then, where is the sense of pride and accomplishment?

Scratch building IS NOT difficult. The only thing you get is all the supplies in one box, a plan (not necessary unless you are building an exact copy of a specific item) and instructions-in this case that seem to be of questionable help. Is that worth insane amount of money?
